Ron reached out to me before their trip to Maui with a unique idea. His girlfriend Hannah was pregnant, and they were already planning to celebrate this exciting chapter with a maternity photoshoot on Maui. But Ron had another surprise in mind - he wanted to propose during the session without her suspecting a thing.

We chose Maluaka Beach in Wailea for an early morning session. It's one of my favorite beaches for photography because mornings are typically quiet, peaceful, and beautifully lit. Before the session, Ron and I agreed on a secret signal.

Instead of something traditional, Madison and Zach chose a tropical flower bouquet for their gender reveal — a simple, beautiful, and eco-friendly idea. Standing together on the beach, they opened the bouquet to reveal soft pink flowers — a baby girl!

Dark clouds moved quickly across the sky, the rain came and went. We talked about rescheduling, but decided to trust the moment and go for it.

And somehow, the rain never came!

We were given soft muted tones, moody skies, and a calm, diffused light that wrapped everything in a quiet atmosphere.

Ironwoods Beach is one of my favorite locations on Maui for maternity and couples photography — especially for those who want their photos to feel romantic, and a little wild. This maternity session with Richelle and Kevin, who were visiting Maui from Australia on their babymoon, was the perfect example of why I love this spot so much. They wanted photos that felt candid, emotional, and effortless — not overly posed — and Ironwoods gave us the perfect setting to tell their story.

Justin and Libby wanted this session to feel more lifestyle - less posed, more real moments. The kind of photos that capture who they are right now: playful, affectionate, growing, and excited for what’s next.

We met in the early morning when the tide was low, revealing calm, crystal-clear natural pools. Tatiana chose a few simple, beautiful outfits that matched the setting and reflected her laid-back, grounded energy. She started in a classic black bikini, later changed into a one-piece swimsuit, and then into a breezy skirt and crop top combo - perfect for adding movement and variety to the gallery.

For this session, we wanted to create the “moody” aesthetic with serious, unsmiling expressions, dramatic posing, and the use of natural contrast between light and shadow. The result was a gallery full of emotive, cinematic images that felt both intimate and powerful!

Fleming Beach turned out to be the a great location: peaceful, spacious, and absolutely breathtaking at sunrise. With hardly anyone around, we had the whole beach to ourselves.

The session was relaxed and playful, and the images turned out beautifully - soft, playful, and full of joy.

Instead of stiff, posed images, we focused on movement and connection. I encouraged them to walk along the beach, hold hands, and simply enjoy each other’s company. Carley’s smile and D'Marco’s admiration for her created moments that were effortless to capture!

Nude maternity sessions aren’t for everyone, but for those who are comfortable, they can be incredibly empowering and beautiful. For this session, we went to an uncrowded beach in the early morning to have some privacy.
