Lifestyle Family Photoshoot at Baby Beach | North Shore, Maui

I’ve had the joy of photographing this sweet family for a few years now - first when baby Luke was just 3 months old (check out this blog post about our photoshoot!), then again for his 1-year milestone. And now, a beautiful family+maternity session as they prepare to welcome their second little one! This time, we met at Baby Beach in Paia - a peaceful spot on the north shore of Maui, with tide pools that’s perfect for toddlers and relaxed family photos.

Justin and Libby wanted this session to feel more lifestyle - less posed, more real moments. The kind of photos that capture who they are right now: playful, affectionate, growing, and excited for what’s next.

We started with a few classic portraits while everyone was clean and fresh (it was a hot day!). Their Australian shepherd Koki joined too - always the happiest one at the beach! After a few posed shots, we let the morning unfold naturally. We explored the shoreline, splashed in the water, and documented all those candid in-between moments that feel like memories: cuddles, giggles, sandy hands, and salty kisses.

Lifestyle sessions like this work beautifully with my 90-minute package. It gives us enough time to slow down and let the story develop - we can take a mix of posed photos first, then move into more spontaneous, documentary-style shots. There’s room for breaks, wandering, outfit changes, getting into the ocean, and just being yourselves. That’s exactly what we did with these guys - and the gallery feels like a little adventure together.

As toddlers do, Luke decided pretty quickly that playing was way more fun than posing. And honestly… that’s when the magic happens! He splashed, he ran, he giggled - and those real, unplanned moments always end up being the ones that families treasure most.

While Luke enjoyed a little break playing with Koki and building sandcastles with his grandpa, we captured some sweet maternity photos of Libby and a few couple portraits for just the two of them.

The photos turned out beautiful - natural, relaxed, and full of personality. There’s something so special about documenting the evolution of a family over the years… seeing a little more love, a little more growth, and a lot more laughter each time we meet!

I’m already looking forward to the next milestone with this amazing family!
