Beach Gender Reveal with a Tropical Flower Bouquet | Wailea, Maui
Madison and Zach were visiting Maui for a short trip and had one specific day available for their photos. It happened to fall right after a big storm, when the weather was still unpredictable — cloudy skies, light rain on and off, and moody atmosphere.
I did suggest rescheduling for better light, but since it was their only day, we decided to go for it — and I’m so glad we did.
Instead of something traditional, Madison and Zach chose a tropical flower bouquet for their gender reveal — a simple, beautiful, and eco-friendly idea. Standing together on the beach, they opened the bouquet to reveal soft pink flowers — a baby girl!
This is one of the reasons I love this idea so much:
It’s environmentally friendly (no confetti or balloons)
It feels organic and effortless
And it photographs beautifully in a Maui setting
The sky stayed overcast throughout the session, with occasional light rain — but instead of taking away from the experience, it added an emotional tone to the photos.
After the reveal, we continued with their pregnancy announcement photos, incorporating their ultrasound in a few quiet, meaningful moments.
If you’re thinking about doing a gender reveal or pregnancy announcement session on Maui, here are a few ideas:
Consider natural, eco-friendly options like flowers
Keep it simple — the setting does most of the work
Don’t be afraid of imperfect weather — it often creates the most unique photos
Madison and Zach’s session is such a good reminder that things don’t have to be perfect to be beautiful!
If you’re planning a pregnancy announcement or gender reveal on Maui, feel free to reach out — I’d love to help you create something meaningful and natural.
