Maui Babymoon: Fun Activities And Things To Do For Expecting Parents
A babymoon on Maui is the perfect opportunity for expecting parents to relax, bond, and create unforgettable memories together. In this blog post, I’d like to share some of the activitiy ideas for your babymoon on Maui.
1 Relax on the Beach, or Snorkel
Maui is renowned for its beautiful beaches, and spending a day soaking up the sun is a great way to unwind during your babymoon. Anywhere you go on Maui you'll find plenty of beautiful beaches to relax! Some of my favorites are Makena Beach, Maluaka, Po’olenalena, Palauea (“White Rock”), Kahekili (“Airport Beach”), Oneloa (“Ironwoods”), and Fleming Beach.
If you’d rather stay active than relaxing on the beach, explore Maui's colorful underwater world. Some of my favorite snorkeling spots are Honolua Bay, Kapalua Bay, and Makena Landing. You can rent snorkeling equipment at any dive shop; please don’t buy or rent full face snorkel masks, they can be dangerous. Make sure to bring a reef-safe sunscreen to protect Maui’s delicate marine ecosystems. Snorkeling together with your partner is a fun way to connect with nature while also making some special memories together on your babymoon.
2 Go for a Walk and Explore Scenic Landscapes
Maui's nature is truly amazing, and exploring its scenic landscapes is a must during your babymoon. Depending on how you are feeling, you may enjoy some easy hikes and walks around Maui. Here are some of the places I’d recommend:
1. Kapalua Coastal Trail - it’s a scenic hike along the rugged shoreline with beautiful lava cliffs, turquoise water and breathtaking ocean views.
2. Twin Falls - a peaceful jungle walk to the waterfall with an option to go for a longer hike.
3. Iao Valley - lush valley with fresh water streams and cool air even in the middle of the day!
4. Ali’i Lavender Farm - beautiful garden, gorgeous mountain views, little gift shop with tea or coffee, and everything smells so good! Drive a little up from the farm to have a picnic and watch sunset.
3 Try Delicious Food, Maui style!
Maui has a diverse culinary scene that showcases the island's local and international flavors. If you’re looking to experience some of less touristy food gems, check out the food trucks and small restaurants. Some of my recommendations:
Maui South Gardens food trucks - super cozy environment with variety of food and live music at night.
La Provence - amazing breakfast and pasties.
Kula Bistro - homestyle Italian food and great coffee (check hours).
Nuka - delicious sushi (long wait to get in!).
Wabisabi - authentic Japanese soba noodles.
Café Des Amis - cozy outdoor environment and Mediterranean food.
Mala Ocean Tavern - charming place and fresh seafood (survived after Lahaina fires and open!).
4 Explore Paia and Maui’s North Shore
Paia is a charming town on the North Shore of Maui with a variety of cute local surf shops, unique boutiques, art galleries, and eateries. Just a few miles up north from Paia you’ll find picturesque coastline of the North Shore with rugged cliffs and crashing waves. I’d recommend to stop at Ho’okipa Beach Park to watch surfers, or windsurfers (depending on the ocean conditions), as well as check out turtles relaxing at the beach.
5 Book a Maternity Photoshoot
A maternity photoshoot allows you to capture the beauty of your pregnancy and connection between mother and a baby, and your partner. Document this special time in your lives while babymooning on Maui! Choose a picturesque location such as quiet beach, a lush jungle, or a waterfall, and capture the joy of your pregnancy. These timeless photos will preserve the moments of your babymoon and the anticipation of welcoming baby into the world.
