FAQ: Maternity Photography

  • The ideal time is between 28–34 weeks of pregnancy. Your belly is beautifully round by then, and you’ll still have enough energy to enjoy the session.

  • Absolutely! Many mamas choose to come solo. Partners and children are always welcome too if you’d like them included!

  • Absolutely! Here is a little list of my favorite locations for maternity sessions:

    • Maui West side:

      • Fleming Beach - white sand, ironwood trees, and lava rocks.

      • Ironwoods Beach - dramatic lava cliffs, white sand, and turquoise water.

    • Wailea (South Maui):

      • Po‘olenalena Beach - golden sand, palm trees, lava rocks, and dreamy sunsets.

      • Palauea Beach - white sand, palm trees, and lava rocks. Best at sunset!

    • Maui’s North Shore (Paia):

      • Ho’okipa Beach - white sand, turquoise water, lava rocks.

      • Mama’s Beach - white sand, tide pools, and lava rocks.

  • For outfits, I recommend wearing clothes that fit well and make you feel confident and comfortable. Solid colors usually work better than prints. Some good options include light pink, pale or deep blue, or muted green, as well as neutral tones like beige, white, and gray. Try to avoid bright, neon colors or very busy prints. Also, try to avoid sunburns or noticeable tan lines before your session, since they can be difficult to edit out. Consider coordinating colors with your partner for a cohesive look. Barefoot is best for the beach!

  • Most of my clients feel this way at first! My approach is very relaxed and natural - I’ll guide you into poses while encouraging candid, authentic moments so you feel comfortable.
