A Cinematic Love Story on Maui’s North Shore | Hawaii Couples Photographer
Shena and Danny traveled to Maui from North Carolina, carrying with them a deep love for adventure, tropical places, coffee, and life on the water. Married for over three years, they came to the island to explore, and to capture their love now, in this chapter — before kids, before life shifts — as something they can one day show their children and even their grandchildren.
“Danny asked me what I wanted to do before we have kids,” Shena shared. “I said I wanted nice photos of us while we're young.”
That intention set the tone for everything!
The Vision
Shena described her vision perfectly: “photos, that capture our youthful, candid, adventurous spirit — with a cinematic feel”.
So instead of a typical beach location, I suggested something a little different — a North Shore cow pasture with beautiful ocean views. Wild, open, raw.
They trusted the vision completely.

This session wasn’t about stiff posing or perfection. We moved with the wind, the light, and the energy of the moment. I gave them prompts to keep things playful and alive — walking, laughing, holding each other, pausing when something felt right.
And yes — even the cows decided to join us.
Those moments ended up being some of my favorites: joyful, unexpected, and full of personality.
A Cinematic Finish
In post-processing, I leaned into a filmy, cinematic edit — soft contrast, desaturated colors, grain, and a timeless feel that matched their original vision.
The final gallery felt like a short love film frozen in frames. Honest. Emotional. Alive.
When Shena and Danny saw the images, they loved them — and that’s always the most meaningful part for me.
