Water Maternity Photos | Sunset Session At Po’olenalena Beach, Maui

I recently had the pleasure of photographing a stunning maternity session for my friend Yulia. She wanted some sunset silhouette photos that would showcase the beauty of her changing body and had “a romantic, magical feel”. To bring her vision to life we chose Po’olenalena beach, as it’s usually uncrowded at sunset time. Before the session, Yulia faced the common struggle of finding clothing that complemented her pregnancy; but after a little discussion we agreed that a simple black bikini would perfectly embrace her evolving form.

Before the golden hour, Yulia and I had the opportunity to capture some moments on the beach.

As the golden hour approached, we played with silhouette photos, taking advantage of the beautiful light. I asked Yulia to walk along the beach, move around while being in the ocean, and she seemed to enjoy the moment.

There is something special about sessions in a water... It seems like they enhance the femininity of the woman, and they also work wonders for those who might be camera-shy. The water makes some kind of magic, creating a natural flow and atmosphere of ease and tranquility.
